The Problem with Traditional Reminders
You set a reminder to exercise at 6 PM every day. Sounds great—until you're in a client meeting at 6 PM on Tuesday. Your phone buzzes. You dismiss it. The habit tracking app marks you as "failed." You feel guilty.
This is why most habit apps feel naggy instead of helpful. They remind you at the wrong time, interrupt important moments, and make you feel worse instead of better.
How Smart Reminders Work
Lifevate's Smart Reminders use three signals to understand when you're actually available:
1. Calendar Integration
When you connect your calendar (optional), Lifevate checks your schedule before sending a reminder. If you have a meeting, it waits. Once your calendar is free, you'll get a gentle nudge.
Example: Your reminder is set for 2 PM, but you have a meeting from 2-3 PM. Lifevate automatically reschedules the reminder to 3:05 PM, giving you a 5-minute buffer to transition.
2. Focus Mode Detection
If your phone is in Do Not Disturb or Focus mode, Lifevate respects that. It won't interrupt your deep work sessions, meditation time, or sleep. Instead, it queues the reminder and sends it as soon as you disable Focus mode.
3. Location Awareness
Some habits only make sense in certain places. With location-based reminders (opt-in), Lifevate can:
- Remind you to stretch when you arrive at the office
- Nudge you to cook dinner when you get home
- Suggest a walk when you're at the park
Location data is processed locally on your device and never sent to our servers unless you enable cloud sync.
Customizing Your Smart Reminders
Setting Up a Reminder
When creating a habit, you'll see reminder options:
- Time-based: Set a specific time (e.g., 7 AM daily)
- Event-based: Trigger after another event (e.g., 30 minutes after waking up)
- Location-based: Remind when you arrive or leave a location
Smart Scheduling
Enable Smart Scheduling in settings to let the AI automatically adjust reminder times based on your patterns. Over time, it learns when you're most likely to complete the habit and optimizes accordingly.
Gentle vs. Persistent Mode
Choose your reminder style:
- Gentle: One reminder per day. If you miss it, no problem—try again tomorrow.
- Persistent: Up to 3 reminders per day at smart intervals until you complete the habit.
Privacy & Permissions
Smart Reminders require certain permissions to work:
- Calendar: Optional. Lets us check your schedule.
- Location: Optional. Enables place-based reminders.
- Focus Status: Optional. Respects Do Not Disturb.
All of these are opt-in. You can use Lifevate with simple time-based reminders if you prefer. Your data stays on your device unless you enable cloud sync.
